Highlighting freight reforms, the Minister said India produces nearly 35 million tonnes of salt annually, with about 9.2 million tonnes transported by rail. To address issues like wagon corrosion and handling losses, Railways will shift to containerised transportation using non-corrosive stainless steel containers, along with mechanised loading and unloading to ensure faster and safer movement. In the automobile sector, new specialised single and double-stack carrier wagons are being introduced to enhance capacity and reduce damage during transit. Infrastructure reforms include stricter eligibility criteria for contractors, reduced subcontracting, and stronger financial safeguards to ensure quality and timely project execution. Passenger-centric reforms feature Aadhaar-based OTP authentication in Tatkal bookings, automatic refunds without the need for TDR, and revised cancellation rules. Passengers can now also change their boarding point and upgrade travel class up to 30 minutes before departure, offering greater flexibility and convenience. #indianrailways #Cancellationofrailticketrules #RailConstructionReforms #BoardingStationRailTicket
