With the support of Australia-based Welcome Partner Organisations and local volunteers, the event will be organised and hosted by the Indian Australian Diaspora Foundation. “The Indian-Australian Diaspora Forum will organise and host a community reception to honour PM Modi during his upcoming visit to Australia to participate in the QUAD Leaders’ Summit. The reception has been organised with the support of Australia-based Welcome Partner Organisations and local volunteers. More information about the event will be announced shortly,” an official press release announced. With over 20,000 people already registered, the event will feature a beautiful cultural programme showcasing the diverse and rich culture of India. Significantly, over 100 proposals have been submitted to the organising committee for cultural performances. However, it is PM Modi’s address that will remain the major highlight of the event for those in attendance. “The event aims to provide the large and growing Indian diaspora of Australia with an opportunity to listen to our beloved leader, the Prime Minister of India,” the forum said. PM Modi to head to Australia for the third-in-person Quad Summit Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on an official visit to Australia to attend the Quad Leaders’ Summit on May 24. PM Modi will arrive in Sydney on the last leg of his three-nation visit. Prior to it, the Prime Minister will be travelling on an official visit to Japan and Papua New Guinea to participate in the G7 Summit and the Forum for India-Pacific Island Cooperation Summit. Earlier, responding to a tweet from his Australian counterpart over the announcement, PM Modi said, “Thank you, Anthony Albanese, for hosting the next Quad Summit in Sydney, which will bolster our efforts to ensure a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific. I look forward to my visit and discussions on strengthening Quad collaboration across domains to advance our positive agenda.” It is pertinent to note that the 2023 Sydney Quad Leaders’ Summit this year is focused on showcasing the Quad’s enduring contribution to the region and the tangible benefits the grouping is delivering for Indo-Pacific partners. During the summit, the top leaders from Australia, India, Japan, and the United States will also discuss the region’s most pressing challenges and advance the Quad’s positive and practical agenda.
