This area, along with the Hanasaki and Suehiro districts, lies along Route 40 and resembles an old-town district. Local shops and relatively small businesses line the road, and behind them are rows of residential houses or apartments. It's not exactly a tourist area, but it's home to many important city facilities, including a baseball stadium, sports park, courthouse, memorial museum, Gokoku Shrine, medical center, and a large Japan Ground Self-Defense Force base. In this walk, I take a route that goes along the main road and also through the residential areas that spread out behind it.
