Rajya Sabha BJP MP Subramaniam Swamy moved for consideration and passing a Private Member Bill - Cow Protection Bill, 2107 that seeks the death penalty for cow slaughter. He also suggested the imposition of a voluntary cess for taking care of cows which no longer give milk. He withdrew the bill after government assurance.
