The Russian Orthodox Church of Saint John the Theologian on Unthank Road in Norwich is under the Moscow Patriarchate in the Archdiocese of Orthodox Churches of Russian Tradition in Western Europe, which is headed by His Eminence Metropolitan Jean of Dubna. Saint John the Theologian was established in Norwich in 1982 by Igumen David (Meyrick) of Saint Seraphim’s Church in Little Walsingham, then within the Diocese of Sourozh, and Metropolitan Anthony (Bloom). In 1983 Father Patrick (Hodson) was ordained as the Parish Priest and to provide Pastoral Care. After Father Patrick's retirement in 2018, the current Parish Priest, Father Julian (Sadowski) was appointed as Rector. Services are sung mainly in English with some Church Slavonic. Liturgical Daily Readings and Feast days are kept according to the Revised Julian Calendar or New Calendar. Services are generally fortnightly, with Sunday Divine Liturgies at 10am.
