Resurrecting a Legend: 1986 Chevy Diesel Squarebody Wildland Brush Rig Fire Truck - Will it Start?

Join the Bad Ideas Garage as we embark on the journey to restore this classic 1986 Chevy Diesel Wildland Brush Rig for the Oregon Fire Service Museum. Squarebody trucks, like this one, are growing in popularity, and there is a huge nation-wide need for brush trucks, so this is a great time to resurrect this apparatus. In this episode, we've show where the fire tuck was stored for 5 years, then watch POV as we replace the batteries and a few other items, to see if it will start. We ended up needing help from some of the Board at OFSM, and also discovered the clutch was stuck. The highlight? Hearing the old GM 6.2 diesel come back to live. As we roll up our sleeves and dive into the restoration process, we'll also be giving the clutch some much-needed attention. It's going to be a fun experience, filled with mechanical challenges, historical tidbits, and a whole lot of engine grease (and DOT3). Don't forget to subscribe and follow our journey.
