We are close to the commemoration of the Lord’s passion and death and his glorious Resurrection. “And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself,” says Jesus in today’s Gospel. He is speaking of his death on the cross—and how his sacrifice would bring all of us the grace of salvation. He is the grain of wheat that falls on the ground, dies and produces much fruit for others.
