Kimberly Manning, MD, FACP, FAAP Professor of Medicine Associate Vice Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Emory University, School of Medicine, Department of Medicine Tuesday, September 15, 2020 Brief overview: This talk explores the unique perspectives of our Black patients, learners, and colleagues navigating the COVID19 pandemic along with the ongoing pandemic of racism. By the end of this session, participants will be able to: 1. Acknowledge concrete differences in the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on BIPOC individuals. 2. Apply their understanding of the intersection of pandemic racism and a viral pandemic to their interactions with Black American colleagues, learners, and patients. Dr. Kimberly Manning is a Professor of Medicine and Associate Vice Chair of Diversity Equity and Inclusion at Emory University School of Medicine in the Department of Medicine. She additionally serves as the residency program director for the transitional year program at Emory and was a 2018 recipient of the ACGME Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Award. She has a strong interest in storytelling, humanism and medicine, medical education innovation, and diversity in medicine.
