Travelling to THAILAND! - Chiang Mai Night Market & AirBnB

We've arrived in Thailand! (Chiang Mai specifically) So begins our 2 month adventure travelling all across Thailand before we head to Bali for just about another 2 months of Travel! (Check out our Instagram for some pictures and stories as well!   / thepacificcoastcouple   ) We may not be getting our sunshine in the United States but that didn't stop us from running away from the snow for winter until we will be RVing across Canada in the spring still. We started off waking up at 3:30am to get to the airport, and after a layover in Vancouver International Airport, we were ready to board the 13 hour China Southern Air flight heading for Guangzhou. We had an 18 hour layover in Guangzhou but fortunately spent the night after 26 hours of being awake at the Pullman Hotel across from Guangzhou's airport. The hotel was beautiful and the breakfast included in the morning was way more than I was expecting, they definitely spared no expenses on that buffet. From there it was a short (in comparison) 3 hour flight to Chiang Mai, Thailand! The whole immigration process in Thailand was so quick and smooth. From landing we were able to clear immigration, get our luggage, get Alysha's phone a Thai sim card, exchange some currency, and get a Grab (which is the Uber of Thailand apparently, I think they bought out Uber) to our AirBnB condo all in just over 2 hours. Much faster than our experience in Guangzhou. We settled in to the Chiang Mai AirBnB, explored our walking vicinity which is also about a 10-15min walk from Maya Mall. That place has slowly become our second home since it has a good selection of stores, restaurants, a top floor and bottom floor market style food court section where you can get local meals for around $2.00 Canadian and cool off. Even in January we're hitting highs of around 32 and its a humid hot heat. No snow here. A large thunderstorm rolled through (and took out our power) the second day so we checked out the Central Festival Mall which was even larger with a wider selection. I still prefer the Maya mall as each floor is organized into clothes, tech, banking, food which makes wandering a little more organized but they are both still lovely. We will be heading to the Night Bazar in the Old City wall limits coming up here which has a crazy amount of stalls down every side street as well as live music, food everywhere and plenty of good vibes. Soon enough here we will also be seeing an Elephant Sanctuary we have booked, as well as we intend to check out a cooking class and make the hike up to Doi Suthep. Very exciting things in store.
