(9 Jul 1996) T/I: 11:23:47 GS 10:22:05 About 700 Palestinians from southern Gaza arrived in a convoy at the Erez border crossing with Israel on Tuesday (9/7) and staged a noisy protest against new Israeli restrictions on prison visits. The new Israeli Defense Minister, Yitzhak Mordechai, visited the Erez checkpoint later on Tuesday to review the security situation in the area. A similar review was made in the West Bank town of Hebron by Avigdor Kahalani, Israel's new Internal Security Minister.
