STAR WARS 1990-1992 Home Video Trailer
Recovered VHS Gems (from the archives) EPISODE 127: STAR WARS 1990-1992 Home Video Trailer The following promotional trailer was originally packaged on VHS copies of “From Star Wars To Jedi: The Making Of A Saga” released in 1989 AND 1992, as well as copies of the first official VHS boxset of the Star Wars trilogy released between 1990-1992 (according to Nathan P. Butler @ChronoRadio). The first releases of this boxset featured the CBS/FOX Video logo (1990-1991) while later reissues of this set featured the FOX Video logo (1991-1992). This change in logos on the packaging and the trailer is due to the shift in the home video department from CBS/FOX Video to just FOX Video in Feburary 1991 (according to variety.com). Despite this shift, the CBS/FOX merger lasted until 1998 and was overtaken by the 20th Century FOX Home Entertainment label, which officially overtook FOX Video in March 1995 (according to ejunkieblog.com and mediaplaynews.com). For this reason, I have edited BOTH logos into the opening of this presentation for posterity's sake. (NOTE: For the record, other than the change in the logos from CBS/FOX Video to just FOX Video, there is NO difference in the actual body of the trailer.) There are also minor changes in packaging between the two sets, including the removal of character photos from the box spines and different sticker labels on the tapes themselves. I present this trailer here for archiving, educational, and research purposes, as well as your entertainment. I should also note that while I didn't own this set initially during the early 1990's, I remember I had a couple of buddies whose Dad had bought this set and we used to watch it. Years later, when I started collecting VHS tapes more seriously, I picked up a copy of BOTH the CBS/FOX and FOX Video branded versions for my collection.
