Stop Vehicle Leave Engine Running Warning In A Mercedes: Meaning, Causes And How To Fix. In this video tutorial I will show you how to fix “Stop Vehicle Leave Engine Running” warning in a Mercedes. Warning meaning The “Stop Vehicle Leave Engine Running” light is an electrical system-related warning that pops up whenever the system's voltage falls below the safe threshold for normal vehicle operation. The warning means that your car's voltage supply source needs to be recharged or fixed to elevate the supply. Here are the causes Keeping your car lights ON for too long Doing this will drain your car’s auxiliary battery. Although car battery drains can easily be fixed by jump starting, repeatedly doing this will likely shorten the battery's lifespan and reduce its voltage-holding capacity. Excessive accessories use and parasitic drains Similar to keeping car lights on for long, excessive use of accessories, say charging multiple phones and at the same time listening to the radio, can also drain the battery. This can deteriorate the battery's health, especially when not driving long distances to recharge it. Faulty alternator A faulty alternator may fail to recharge the battery or contribute to drains when the car engine is off. Faulty battery A dead battery or one nearing its lifespan can also cause the error. How to fix the warning light Abide to the warning’s instructions Pull over to the side, shift to "Park" mode, and leave the car engine revving. Ensure to park at a safe place. Turn off the lights and other accessories. Turning off accessories such as the radio, the AC system, and lights will minimize battery drainage, optimizing the charging process. Let the car idle to recharge the battery. Idling the car for about twenty to thirty minutes allows the auxiliary battery to recharge. You can also drive the car fast after the idling to recharge quickly. If the issue persists, test the car battery and the alternator if faulty and fix or replace if necessary.
