But you gotta find the right book and the right beat. Initially I thought I might do a couple different tracks for The Pale King because there are a lot of different readings out there, including the peerless Andre Holland’s reading of Irrelevant Chris Fogle’s epiphany--maybe my most favorite piece of writing DFW ever did. But rather than try and dilute those voices across a bunch of mediocre tracks, I went all in on this one. Yes, the autotune was necessary. This coming winter/spring will be 10 years since I read The Pale King and I want to do a full review after a reread, since it is my favorite book.
