I first heard “Slow Dancing in the Dark” through a No Dice cover before the original, and instantly fell in love with it. I listened back to the original from Joji, and knew I had to cover this song. It related to what I was going through at the time, wanting to slow dance, (or be with), someone that wasn’t there anymore. My friend Cesar Marenco and I collaborated on this cover, and we put a lot of focus on the instrumentals and production. I wrote the guitar riff in the chorus, (which was played by my friend Jimmy Wong), and we incorporated little rhythmic patterns and ambient textures throughout the song. The video was filmed by Jordan Wong, and I did video editing for the first time. It taught me that background and foreground are just as important for a video, and that visuals really can make or break a cover. My greatest wish is if Joji himself happened to see this video, and to make both him and Filthy Frank proud :) Kelsey Luo IG: @kelseyluo FB: @kelseyluomusic Spotify: Kelsey Luo YouTube: Kelsey Luo Cesar Marenco YouTube: TheCeeze Jimmy Wong Facebook: @jimmyyanmingyu Instagram: @jimmyjameswong Jordan Wong Facebook: @jay.dubbz.7 instagram: @jaydubbz_ http://vevo.ly/dGbiPj
