Fighting continues in Syria ahead of cease fire

The planned ceasefire for Syria is just around the corner, but fighting between insurgents and government forces there continues to escalate. CCTV's Nathan Rodgers visited the town of Darayya, which is a suburb just 8 kilometers outside Damascus. Syria's government forces said on Wednesday they had covered the southern part of Darayya, but sporadic fighting under intensive gunfire and explosions can still be heard across the embattled area. Fully loaded water barrels were found at a stronghold seized from rebels, suggesting they had retreated hastily from the fight. There were also indications that fighters from the Nusra Front, a U.N. designated terrorist organization, were also present in the battle. While ongoing efforts are being made to secure a ceasefire, the involvement of terrorists could jeopardize a deal before it gets off the ground.
