The Supreme Court announced on Tuesday that it will hear petitions challenging the remission of sentence and release of 11 convicts in the 2002 Bilkis Bano gang-rape case and the November 29 riots in Gujarat. The Gujarat government informed the Supreme Court on Monday that it had decided to release the 11 convicts in the Bilkis Bano case because they had "completed 14 years and above in prison..their behavior was found to be good."
