Andrews ‘lost control’ of Formula One planning

Victorian Liberal MP David Davis says the cancellation of Formula One could have been prevented if the Andrews government had “properly planned” and hadn’t “lost control”. Earlier today, the Victorian government confirmed this year’s Australian Formula One Grand Prix has been cancelled for the second year in a row, due to the Coronavirus pandemic. A bubble for Formula One personnel had been discussed, as is common practice for other countries hosting Formula One events, due to the nature of F1 schedules not allowing for a two-week quarantine. “The race could have gone ahead with proper planning, proper controls, proper arrangements in place,” Mr Davis told Sky News. “But Andrews has lost control of that, and that is the issue for the state and frankly for the country. “Very clearly here, if there’d been proper planning, proper arrangements in place over the longer haul they could have got around a lot of these points. “Our government in Victoria has not been able to properly plan, they’ve not been transparent about a lot of these matters, they won’t release the health advice, they have no proper way forward with better future planning, better rapid testing, better vaccination programs.”
