Yours truly BARBARA CASERTA catched old time friend LEO LEONI, guitarist and mastermind of GOTTHARD, backstage at Live Club in Trezzo (Milano) during METALITALIA FESTIVAL on June 2nd 2019 for LINEA ROCK. I took the chance to have some anticipations on the new Gotthard album already in the works. I asked if “DeFrosted 2” is gonna influence strongly the band’s musical direction like “DeFrosted” did 22 years ago, how composition dynamics worked this time, the Yellow House Studio nest-blessing, and if him co-producing all albums since Nic joined moved the balance within the band and rocked the boat! I asked how it feels to deliver electric & acoustic shows during the same summer, if “DeFrosted” Chapter 1 & 2 - different records someway – have also different meanings for the band, I asked about new “Gotthard Red Wine” project, the CORELEONI-gate and related mixed emotions among fans and if growing up changes goals / expectations… since music biz and record companies have a “live in the moment” approach nowadays, less investing in the long run, what if Gotthard was a new band now?
