Austin Ekeler is moving across the country, taking his dual-threat abilities from L.A. to D.C. The veteran running back has reportedly landed a deal with the Commanders after spending the first seven years of his career with the Chargers. Ekeler is looking for a change of scenery following a disappointing 2023 season. The 28-year-old saw a massive regression in the touchdown department, finding the end zone just five times after leading the league in TDs the previous two seasons. He was severely hampered by an ankle injury early in the season, though, and Justin Herbert's late-season injury severely limited the Chargers' offense down the stretch. Ekeler will look to get healthy in the offseason and bounce back with a new opportunity in Washington. He will receive a $3 million signing bonus and can earn another $1.5 million in incentives in year one. Ekeler is coming off of a four-year, $24.5 million deal he signed with the Chargers back in 2020. He was undrafted out of Western Colorado in 2017, so his rookie contract was only a three-year, $1.66 million deal.
