How Do You Diagnose Asthma? -- Dr. William Berger, MD (AHJ Diseases Illnesses) We have improved dramatically in our ability to diagnose asthma properly. Allergy testing now is done very easily, and we can identify which of the specific allergen triggers are important in causing the patient's asthma. We now have pulmonary function testing, which can actually measure air flow in the lungs, then give the patient medication and see if the air flow improves. This is how we make our diagnosis. After the diagnosis of asthma is made, there are a number of treatment options available. The decision to choose a treatment option depends on the severity of the asthma and the health of the patient. http://www.americanhealthjournal.com/...
