Today is the day to be hanging out with your family, going sledding, working out, or watching some movies... like the Sonic movie! Yeah, that movie has been doing well at the box office, defying all odds, and putting a mighty wallop on Birds of Prey! Yeah, professional critic scores have been more mixed to positive, but the audience is just eating this movie up! It's even managed to surpass Detective Pikachu as the most successful opening weekend for a video game movie! Impressive! Will the Sonic movie recoup its large budget? Who knows? What I do know is that you should take your kids to see it! It's really good. Or you might hate it... to each his or her own. Anyway, let's stop talking about the Sonic movie and instead pivot to a different movie based on a property... released back in 1994 when Sonic was still booming... oops. The Flintstones! Hanna Barbera's iconic animated sitcom from the vintage ages! You don't need me to tell you how iconic it was, it was a big hit for HB! It was basically Honeymooners in the stone age with cavemen and dinosaurs! It had charming characters like Fred, Wilma, Barney, Betty, Dino, Pebbles, and Bam-Bam, rock technology, the wild world of Bedrock and much more. It was one of the longest running sitcoms ever before the Simpsons beat it out and that show won't die. And what could make the experience better than with a big motion picture set in live-action? Made in 1994. Yeah, remember the Flintstones movie starring John Goodman, Rick Moranis, Halle Berry, Rosie O'Donnell and Elizabeth Perkins? I'm sure you do! It was a very weird adaptation of the source material. It went from cavemen and dinosaurs to cavemen and industrial corruption. Sure it had some good moments, like Goodman as Fred and Moranis as Barney... most of the casting wasn't terrible, but the plot was pretty weird. I watched on YTV it once... and I remember liking it, though that was years ago. I may need to see that again for myself to judge. I never saw the movie when it came out, mainly because I wasn't born yet. I was born in November of 1994 and the Flintstones movie came out in summer of 1994. I guess there was hype for this movie as there were many commercials for this film, which is what I'm showcasing today! This here movie spot comes to us from Ethan's TV Junk Yard, more specifically, some WPIX ad breaks from 1994. This one's dated May 22, 1994... and saying "May" and "22" in the same sentence just gave me war flashbacks... but that's besides the point. The trailer showcases all the funny parts of the movie an none of the industrial corruption plot. That's how you get the butts in the seats! But, hey! It's not flat out lying about what kind of movie this is! We get all the cool scenes in this tv trailer, from Bam-Bam lifting up a table to Fred getting his head smacked by a bowling ball, Dino drinking out of the toilet... um... okay... Oh, we do get the iconic "Ribs tipping over the car" at the end of the trailer! Can't have Flintstones with out it! So that's the the Flintstones movie TV trailer. My very first movie TV spot showcased on this channel! Let's hope I don't get a copyright strike on this... Anyway, stay tuned for some more ads promoting the motion picture of our favorite Stone Age family! Flintstones live-action movie is property of Universal Pictures and Hanna Barbera.
