Chattanooga Today, March 14, 2013

First of all, Cee Lo Green will be performing at Riverbend in Chattanooga on June 8. Organizers have tried to book Green for years, and things only worked out this year because the star wanted to get out of Las Vegas to perform at fairs and festivals so more of his fans could see him. Green is known for his work with Goodie Mob and Danger Mouse, and for his solo hits such as "Forget You." Organizers also announced that Bluegrass trio Mountain Heart will play at Riverbend June 9. ______2 In a tragic story from Signal Mountain, a man who fell at least 4 stories in an accident at Rainbow Falls has died. The 50-year-old Signal Mountain resident was hiking near the waterfall with a friend when he fell around 4 p.m. Wednesday. Crews found him alive but critically injured, and he died before rescuers could get him to an ambulance. ____3 Next up, a man charged with shooting a Chattanooga police officer multiple times in the thigh and groin is also a suspect in another shooting earlier this month. 39-year-old Celvin Houston faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault and unlawfully carrying a gun after he reportedly shot 26-year-old officer William McMillan Tuesday. Houston left his cellphone at the scene, which helped identify him quickly. He was found just after 8:30 Wednesday morning at a home in Brainerd. Houston was already wanted after a robbery and shooting Friday at the Hamilton Inn and court records show he was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer in 2006. Houston is now in jail on a one point twenty five million dollar bond. ______4 Turning to local business, a new Red Bank restaurant with a naughty name was closed all day yesterday after it ran out of food on opening day. The restaurant owners had planned on a quieter opening and say they underestimated demand. Hungry crowds cleaned out supplies, leaving only french fries and beer at the end of the day. The eatery received national attention when news outlets reported on its risque name, which some residents say is inappropriate. However, the burger joint's owners point to the eatery's 45-foot-long sofa as justification. And now, after hordes of customers packed out the restaurant on its first official day, the owners say Chattanooga could see more locations of the eatery in the future. If you're planning on grabbing one of those juicy burgers, the restaurant reopens today at 11 a.m. ____5 And finally, a random act of kindness goes a long way in East Ridge. A local Girl Scout Troop received a big surprise when an unidentified man bought all the cookies at the troop's booth outside of a Bi-Lo store. The man bought all 70 cookie boxes and asked the girls to give every customer to the store a free box. The girl scout cookie program continues to run through March 24. ___ And looking at weather, we'll see increasing clouds today with a high near 53. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a low around 36.
