Animation of an Annular Solar Eclipse

Animation of an Annular Solar Eclipse

Do you know how a solar eclipse actually occurs? Do you like to know how it would look like from space? Any kind of solar eclipse can be seen only when the Moon is positioned between the Earth and the Sun. As an example, the next Solar Eclipse will be annular and will take place on the 14.10.2023, visible only in parts of North, Central and South America. The Moon circles the Earth on an elliptical path and the Earth-Moon-Constellation is also circling around the Sun in an ellipse. In fact Earth, Moon, and Sun are orbiting in an ellipse around each common Barycenter, but let's keep it simple. Sometimes the distance from Moon and Sun seen from Earth is not quite perfect, and the Moon can´t cover our central star completely. In cases like that the outer rim of the Sun will remain uncovered and we can see an annular solar eclipse. © Idea, Design and Animation Video by AR Design gpv © Music by Yiruma - River Flows in You © Maps of Earth, Clouds and Moon by NASA
