In mid June of 2012, Israeli representatives of the Unity Coalition for Israel, Chana Gavon and Judith Nusbaum, attended a significant leadership conference entitled The Status of Jerusalem Under International Law held at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem. Dr. Jacques Gauthier was a featured speaker at the conference and, just outside, we were privileged to interview Howard Grief, historian, legal expert and author of the book, The Legal Foundation and Borders Of Israel Under International Law. Remember that there has been a Jewish presence in Jerusalem for 3,000 years and a Jewish majority since at least 1844. Israel has right to the land based on the 1920 San Remo Resolution... not on the victories of war -- whether defensive or offensive! not on UN Resolutions! Article 80 of the UN Charter clearly states, "until such agreements (as the San Remo Resolution) have been concluded, nothing in this Chapter shall be construed in or of itself to alter in any manner the rights whatsoever of any states or any peoples..." (such as the Jews referred to in the San Remo Resolution). On April 24th, 1920, the San Remo Resolution of the Supreme Council of the Principle Allied Powers became, as British Foreign Secretary Lord Curzon put it, "the Magna Carta of the Zionists." It was clear at the time that the term, "national home," as it was used in the document, really meant a state for the Jews of the world!
