Thursdays with NAMI - Gun Violence - October 15, 2020

Gun violence and suicide: An enduring and lethal connection in the United States Did you know nearly two-thirds of all gun deaths in the U.S. are suicides, amounting to 59 lives lost per day? In addition, access to firearms — meaning personal or household gun ownership — increases the risk of suicide by three times. What are some common sense strategies to reduce suicide and gun violence? This edition is a discussion with Gerald Givens Jr., President of the Raleigh-Apex National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and Diana Gregory and Debbie Weir of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense, a non-partisan movement of Americans demanding solutions to address our nation’s culture of gun violence. Thursdays with NAMI is held virtually every Thursday from 7:00-8:30pm. It is free of charge, but registration is required. Go to www.naminc.org and search "Thursdays" for more information and to register.
