Raised and farmed in and around Vidalia, Georgia, it has a candy-like sweetness, more akin to an apple, than a traditional "onion," in our opinion. Available in our area for most of the Summer, we sought out a local Shriner selling them and so, today, we are discussing them and preparing a Whole Baked Vidalia Onion. You won't believe the flavor that results from this simple recipe. It's like French Onion Soup without the soup. Superb!
