The Volkswagen T-Cross is an SUV (B segment) subcompact crossover vehicle manufactured by Volkswagen of Germany. The Polo Mk6 and this vehicle were both formally introduced in April 2019 on the same MQB A0 platform. Sitting between the Taigo/Nivus and the T-Roc, it is the smallest SUV vehicle offered by Volkswagen. The original plan for the T-Cross was to replace a smaller SUV that had been planned based on the Volkswagen Taigun concept, which had been unveiled in São Paulo in 2012 but later cancelled. After receiving the go-ahead in 2012, the project is set to launch in 2016 as an SUV based on the Volkswagen Up! with a length of less than 3.9 m. Its target markets include Europe, Brazil, and India. Volkswagen scrapped the Taigun in 2016 because to insufficient dimensions, as determined by internal research. The T-Cross was born out of Volkswagen's decision to turn their attention to creating a compact SUV based on the Polo. For sale in India, the long wheelbase T-Cross was rebadged with the Taigun moniker. The Volkswagen T-Cross Breeze was a concept vehicle that debuted at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. A cloth-top convertible with four seats, this car differed from the production version. A total of 4.13 metres (162.6 inches) in length, 1.80 metres (70.9 inches) in width, and 1.56 metres (61.4 inches) in height constitute the T-Cross Breeze. The 81 kW (109 hp) and 175 N⋅m of torque produced by the 1.0 litre TSI engine provide the power for this theoretical automobile. The official debut of the T-Cross production version took place on October 25, 2018, in three cities across three continents: Amsterdam, Shanghai, and São Paulo. This showcases the T-Cross's worldwide character. In order to increase the amount of room inside, this model was manufactured in China and Brazil with a length of 4.2 metres and a wheelbase of 2.65 metres, which were shared with the Škoda Kamiq and the Volkswagen Virtus. Compared to the European version, this model's front fascia and steering wheel are unique. The T-Cross has been awarded five stars by Euro NCAP. Safety for adults in the car had a score of 97%, while that for children was 86%, for vulnerable road users like walkers 81%, and for on-board safety technology 80%. Pedestrian and cyclist protection, automated emergency braking, front assist, and a speed limiter are some of the active and passive safety features included on the T-Cross. The adaptive cruise control, hill start aid, and blind-spot monitoring are some of the advanced technologies that are available on higher-end trim levels.
