Vayishlach – World Alliance Of Qara’im (Karaites) – Weekly Torah Study – Sat 10 Dec 22 This Shabbath, the World Alliance of Qara'im will be holding its weekly Torah study hosted by Hakham Melech ben Ya’aqov. Join us for an exciting and fascinating Torah study from a Karaite point of view. WHAT IS THE WORLD ALLIANCE OF QARA’IM? The World Alliance of Qara’im (WAQ) is an internationally-based group of independent Karaites established in 2010, committed to steadfastly upholding the principles of Karaism. Unlike other Karaite groups which have, sadly, given themselves over to compromise with the Rabbanites (Rabbis), or engaged in a policy of pandering to the Christians, the WAQ has never – and will never – fall into these traps, and will never concede any of the basic principles of Karaism. These principles include an unwavering adherence to the straightforward (but not literal!) meaning of the Torah, rejection of false philosophies such as Rabbinical Judaism, Christianity / Messianic Judaism and Western subjective morality, and the belief that, while Hakhamim can be facilitators in helping people understand the Torah, they are not to play the role of dictator or “Pope”. Rather, it is a basic tenet of the Karaite movement that each person should “search well in the scriptures and not rely on another’s opinion.” With that precept in mind, we offer free Karaite / Torah education to all those interested, including in the form of these weekly Torah studies.
