The Failure of WCW's New Blood Storyline

The storyline was supposed to elevate WCW during their downfall againt the WWF, it was supposed to bring the WCW Nitro show back to the top, and it was supposed to alter World Championship Wrestling in a manner that would give young talent a chance to shine (while also pushing WCW legends out of the picture). Guys like Billy Kidman, Vampiro, Shane Douglas and Jeff Jarrett represented the New Blood while Hulk Hogan, Sting, Ric Flair and others represented the Millionaires Club. The storyline turned out to be a flop, Russo expected fans to get behind the New Blood but instead they rejected the group in favor of The Millionaires Club.
