Pro-Palestinian advocates from the Democratic Party are placing increasing pressure on President Joe Biden to intervene in the escalating Israel-Hamas conflict. Mr Biden has favoured measured diplomatic efforts and has held three phone calls over the past week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A statement released by the White House revealed the two leaders had a detailed discussion on Israel’s progress in degrading the capabilities of Hamas. “The President conveyed to the Prime Minister that he expected a significant de-escalation today on the path to a ceasefire,” the statement read.
