Think and Grow Rich (Chapter 15) - How to Outwit the Six Ghosts of Fear

Think and Grow Rich (Chapter 15) - How to Outwit the Six Ghosts of Fear We hope you have been enjoying our “Think and Grow Rich” posts but we’re finally getting to the last chapter of Napoleon Hill’s book, “Think and Grow Rich.” In a previous post we discussed the sixth sense. Well, the sixth sense will never function while the three negatives known as indecision, doubt and fear exist. So let’s move on…. How many Ghosts are standing in YOUR way? The Six Ghosts of Fear: Poverty Criticism Ill Health Loss of Love of Someone Old Age Death Fear is nothing more than a state of mind and one’s state of mind is subject to control or direction. Have you ever noticed that physicians have little fear of contracting diseases? Even back in the day when there was small pox, most often they didn’t contract it due to their lack of fear. Man can create nothing which he does not first receive in the form of thought. Man’s thought impulses begin immediately to transform into it’s physical equivalent whether voluntary or involuntary. 1st Ghost of Fear - Poverty: 2nd Ghost of Fear - Criticism: 3rd Ghost of Fear - Ill Health: 4th Ghost of Fear - Loss of Love: 5th Ghost of Fear - Old Age: 6th Ghost of Fear - Death: To some this is the cruelest of all the basic fears. In past times, it was mainly due to being afraid of going to hell and burning in fire for eternity. Insane asylums have been filled with men and women who have gone mad over the fear of death. This fear is useless. Death will come no matter what, so you might as well accept it. Death is a necessity and is inescapable. The greatest of all remedies for the fear of death is a burning desire for achievement backed by useful service to others. A busy person seldom has time to worry about death because he finds life too thrilling. Worry is a state of mind based upon fear. It works slowly and persistently until it paralyzes you. Worry is caused by indecision. To protect yourself against the Six Ghosts of Fear: Recognize that you have will power to choose your thoughts Recognize negative influences and keep your mind closed to those who depress or discourage you Clean out your medicine cabinet, throw away pill bottles and stop pandering to colds, pains, aches and imaginary illness Seek deliberately the company who encourage you to think and act for yourself Do not EXPECT troubles as they have a tendency not to disappoint Do a self analysis by asking yourself the questions mentioned in this particular chapter of Napoleon Hill’s book, “Think and Grow Rich” Well, that’s it in a nutshell.
