Red Dead Redemption 2 Vs Assasins Creed Shadows-Graphic comparison.

Red Dead Redemption 2 remains, even today, one of the most impressive games ever made in terms of world simulation, attention to detail, NPC behavior, and physical systems. Rockstar created an incredibly believable, living world, and in 2018 it was not only outstanding in those areas, but also visually groundbreaking for its time. That said, RDR2 is now an eight-year-old game. Despite this, it is still frequently mentioned as a top contender whenever people discuss the best-looking games to test a high-end PC today. From a purely graphical standpoint, I don’t fully agree with that assessment. This video is not meant to downplay RDR2’s achievements or legacy. Instead, it aims to address a common misconception: that RDR2 still goes head-to-head with modern titles in terms of raw graphical technology. Many recent games leverage advancements such as modern ray tracing, path tracing, advanced global illumination, photogrammetry-based environments, and newer rendering pipelines that simply did not exist or were not feasible at the time of RDR2’s release. For that reason, this video presents a direct side-by-side comparison between RDR2 and one of the best-looking open-world games of 2025, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, focusing strictly on visual fidelity and rendering technology. The goal is to show how RDR2 visually holds up against a modern title built with the latest graphical techniques, and to let viewers draw their own conclusions. Both games are running at 4K resolution with DLAA, with all settings manually configured to their highest available values.
