Bird flu outbreak: Delhi bans sale of poultry products

In view of the bird flu scare in Delhi, the three municipal corporations of the national capital have placed a ban on the sale of poultry or processed 'chicken' in shops and restaurants with immediate effect from yesterday. The order issued by the Department of Veterinary Services states that the owners of restaurants and hotels will have to face action if customers serve egg-based dishes or poultry meat and other related products further stating that the order has been issued in the public interest and should be followed. Bird flu was confirmed on Monday in samples of dead crows and ducks in the state.
