US President Donald Trump has fired Acting Attorney General Sally Yates after she called the travel ban enforced on seven Muslim-majority nations "unlawful", a White House statement said. In a statement issued late on Monday the Trump administration said "Sally Yates, has betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the US." The release said Yates was "relieved of her duties" and "Dana Boente, US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, would "serve as Acting Attorney General until Senator Jeff Sessions is finally confirmed by the Senate".
