Chapter 53: An-Najm (The Star) - English Translation of the Holy Quran. Sūrat an-Najm (In Arabic: سورة النجم, "The Star") is the fifty third chapter or sura of the holy Quran with 62 verses or ayat. The chapter/surah that opens with the oath of the Divine One swearing by every one of the stars, as they descend and disappear beneath the horizon, that Prophet Muḥammad (PUH) is indeed Allah/God’s awaited Messenger. It takes its name from first verse/Ayat, which mentions “the stars” (in arabic najm). The chapter/surah confirms the divine source of the Prophet’s message and refers to his ascension to heaven during the Night Journey. The chapter/surah refutes the claims of the disbelievers about the goddesses and the angels, and lists several truths about Allah/God’s power. It closes with a warning of the imminent Day of Judgement. This title also does not relate to the subject matter, but is a name given to the Chapter/Surah as a symbol. It becomes almost certain that this Chapter/Surah was revealed in the Ramadan of 5th year of Prophethood.
