Teacher sentenced for improper relationship with student

ORANGE COUNTY - KFDM News has learned a 30-year-old teacher accused of having an improper relationship with a student at a Christian school in Orange was sentenced Friday to probation and must permanently surrender her teaching certificate. Valerie Sonnier had already pleaded guilty to two separate counts of improper relationship between educator and student. The student attended Community Christian School. Sonnier no longer works there.A judge in Orange sentenced Sonnier to six years probation Friday. Sonnier will not be allowed to teach again and must also pay a $1,000 fine. If she violates probation, she could serve up to 10 years in jail.
