"Blighttown (Part 2 of 3) Swamp & Shortcut [Journey 1: NG]"—In this segment, Blighttown's swamp and upper left half (ascent to Valley of Drakes) is fully explored. Beware the giant leeches, mosquitos, and Infested Barbarians, and bring plenty of Purple Moss Clumps to cure poison! The swamp is a great place for Pyromancers, as NPC Quelana of Izalith* will appear and teach several pyromancies—but only for players who possess a +10 (at minimum) Pyromancy Flame. Ascending up the other side of Blighttown leads to Valley of Drakes. Along the way, Blowdart Snipers will attempt to impede your progress with toxin-laced blowdarts (Blooming Purple Moss Clumps cure toxins) and a pit of rabid Flaming Attack Dogs guard an important treasure. Once into Valley of Drakes, the Key to New Londo Ruins (which was found on the way up) can be used on the locked gate to gain a shortcut route back to Firelink Shrine where NPC Laurentius of the Great Swamp* can be visited. (He was initially freed when found in the Depths.) Once all of his pyromancies are purchased, your Pyromancy Flame ascended, and all dialogue exhausted (including telling him about Quelana), he'll travel down to Blighttown to seek her out for greater pyromancies. Visits with NPCs and items found/purchased in the following order: Green Titanite Shard Plank Shield Large Titanite Shard Green Titanite Shard (Giant Leech drop) Large Titanite Shard (x3) (enemy drops) Server (greatsword guarded by Giant Leeches) Illusory Wall reveals entrance to The Great Hollow area. Twin Humanities (in chest, behind illusory wall) Dragon Scale (in chest, area behind bonfire) NPC Dark Spirit Maneater Mildred invades if a player is in human form and the area boss remains alive. Upon defeat, she drops Humanity (x3), Butcher Knife, and 8,748 souls. (She will be available as an NPC summon for the Chaos Witch Quelaag boss only if she is defeated here, first.) If the player dies before claiming the referenced item drops, they won't respawn when coming back (like what happens in the video). Large Soul of a Proud Knight Large Titanite Shard NPC Quelana of Izalith (purchases): (Only appears if player has +10 min. Pyromancy Flame.) Fireball (pyromancy) = $800 "Standard pyromancy of the Great Swamp. Hurl fireball. The fire damage caused by fireballs makes them effective against corporeal beasts and Undead, who by nature fear flame." Fire Orb (pyromancy) = $10,000 "Pyromancy which improves upon Fireball. Hurl fire orb. The flaming fire orb explodes upon impact, causing fire splash damage in a spectacle which seems to symbolize the strength of the fire-manipulating pyromancers." Great Fireball (pyromancy) = $20,000 "Ultimate fireball pyromancy. Hurl giant fireball. Salaman the Master Pyromancer, also called the Great Fireball after this spell, believed pyromancy was rooted in an adoration of fire. Those who acquire this spell usually agree." Firestorm (pyromancy) = $30,000 "Primal pyromancy taught by Quelana of Izalith. Erect fire pillars in vicinity. The storm of flame is indiscriminate, and incinerates all nearby life." Fire Whip (pyromancy) = $10,000 "Primal pyromancy taught by Quelana of Izalith. Sweep foes with fire whip. The root pyromancy of Combustion, but much more difficult to wield." Combustion (pyromancy) = $800 "Elementary pyromancy. Create powerful flame in hand. One of the most basic pyromancies. For this very reason, the flame thus created is fierce." Great Combustion (pyromancy) = $5,000 "Pyromancy which improves upon Combustion. Create powerful, giant flame in hand. Great Combustion creates a powerful flame, but many sorcerers mock the simplicity of this spell." Undead Rapport (pyromancy) = $10,000 "Advanced pyromancy of Quelana of Izalith. Charm Undead and gain temporary allies. The living are lured by flame, and this relationship is part and parcel to the art of pyromancy. Can be used by either gender." Great Club (in corner, area with Infested Barbarians) Purple Moss Clump (x9) (enemy drops throughout area) Soul of a Proud Knight Fire Keeper Soul Crimson Set (Mask of the Sealer, Robe, Gloves, and Waistcloth) Tin Banishment Catalyst "Catalyst of the banishment sorcerers. In contrast to other catalysts, the metal catalyst qualifies as a weapon, as it inflicts physical damage, however small." Remedy (sorcery) (in chest) "Sorcery of the red-robed Yulva, one of the Sealers of New Londo. Reduce bleeding and poison build-up, and undo various poisonous effects. One of the New Londo's unique healing sorceries. Perhaps she abandoned her Sealer duty to take her healing arts back to Blighttown." Key to New Londo Ruins (in chest) Large Club (Infested Barbarian rare drop) Bonfire Discovered: Blighttown Swamp
