(20 Feb 2017) Demonstrators came together in New York for a "Not My Presidents Day" rally against President Donald Trump to send the message that he does not represent their interests and calling on others to join them in peacefully resisting his presidency. The New York rally is one of many planned across the U.S. to mark the Presidents Day holiday. Protesters gathered near the Trump International Hotel and Tower at New York's Columbus Circle. Speakers included a disability rights activists who previously spoke at last summer's Democratic National Convention in support of former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Anastasia Somoza told the crowd that despite Clinton not winning the presidential campaign, supporters still needed to fight for causes they believed in. Another speaker from the United Kingdom said he came to show the protesters that they had international support. Daniel Kebede said he represented the Stand up to Trump Coalition UK, a group of activists that include Muslim groups and UK trade unions who oppose Trump's presidency.
