We all saw last year and the disaster that was the Belgian Grand Prix with the event being canceled after just 2 laps due to the rain. With a surprise podium from George Russell and the disappointment for Lando Norris with his big shunt at the top of Eau Rouge during qualifying. This year the track has had an 80 million euro investment to improve racing, safety and hospitality. Even though the track layout remains the same there are plenty of safety and hospitality changes around the circuit. La Source, the first hairpin on the circuit, has had a gravel trap added because of safety concerns leading up to the corner. The old grandstands overlooking Eau Rouge have been demolished and replaced by new VIP seating areas. The next change comes at the end of the fast back section of the circuit at the Bruxelles corner where the asphalt runoff is being replaced with the safer gravel trap. This could lead to some incidents resembling the 2021 Austrian Grand Prix between Sergio Perez and Charles Leclair at turn 4 where a 5 second penalty was handed to the Mexican for pushing Leclair off track and into the gravel at high speed. And the final change is to the Blanchimont Corner in sector 3 which has had the barrier moved back and a gravel trap added. Do you think that any of these changes could be significant to the race in July?
