살인적 폭염, 온열질환으로 인한 사망자 10명; 질병관리본부, 응급환자 발생시 물 마시면 안돼 Korea is still in the grip of a heatwave... with temperatures in the mid-30s or even close to 40 degrees Celsius in most places. The heat has killed ten people this summer,... double the number at this point last year. And as of Saturday,... the number of people who've come down with heat-related illnesses was well over 15-hundred. The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is advising people to stay hydrated, especially the very old and the very young who are more vulnerable to the heat. They're advised to refrain from outdoor activities at the hottest time of the day, from noon to 3PM. And as a safety precaution for all,... if a someone loses consciousness because of the heat -- make sure to call 1-1-9 right away. While you wait for an ambulance,... do not attempt to give water to the unconscious person because it could cause them to suffocate.
