(This is an excerpt from "Thru the Bible," a beloved Bible commentary program by Dr. J. Vernon McGee, translated and broadcast on radio in 100 countries worldwide.) https://ttb.twr.org/ J. Vernon McGee (1904–1988) was a prominent American pastor and Bible commentator. His signature radio program, "Thru the Bible," continues to be broadcast in over 100 languages worldwide, more than 35 years after his death. 1. Career and Background Education: Studied at Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) and other institutions, earning a Doctor of Theology degree. Pastoral Care: Served for many years as senior pastor of the historic Church of the Open Door in Los Angeles. Pioneering Radio Evangelism: In 1967, he launched "Thru the Bible." He began his "Bible Reading" series. He established a style of explaining the entire 66 books of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, verse by verse, over five years. 2. Commentary Style: Dr. Magee's most distinctive feature was his style, which he himself called "Putting the cookies on the bottom shelf." He avoided complex theological terminology and spoke in simple language that even children and the general public could understand. His friendly Southern accent and sometimes humorous, straightforward, and sometimes sharp style made him a beloved "Dr. Magee." 3. Theological Stance Evangelical/Dispensationalism: He took a conservative stance, taking the Bible literally as the infallible word of God. Complete Commentary: He emphasized that a consistent plan of salvation (Jesus Christ) flows throughout the entire Bible, including not only favorite passages but also often-skipped Old Testament laws and minor prophetic books. 4. Development in Japan In Japan, his "Bible Reading" series also gained popularity. Under the title "The Bible (The Word of Life)," a Japanese radio program and text based on his commentary have been produced and are used by many Christians and Bible students. "I simply want to convey what God has said, exactly as God intended." — J. Vernon McGee Dr. McGee's commentary aimed not merely at transmitting knowledge, but at "reading the Bible and meeting its author (knowing God)." *Excerpt from the main text 〇Word (Psalm 2:2) "The kings of the earth stand firm, and rulers gather together, against the Lord and against his anointed one." 〇Commentary "The kings of the earth stand firm" refers to political rulers, and "rulers gather together" refers to religious leaders. This opposition movement involved not only a large number of people, but also established authorities. Here, religious leaders and political rulers joined forces. They were "against the Lord and his anointed one." Here, "anointed one" means "Messiah." In Hebrew, Messiah is the anointed one. When this word was introduced into the Greek New Testament, it became "Christos," which in English is "Christ." This There is a large global movement opposing God and Christ. So, when did this movement begin? The Bible tells us about it. In Acts chapter 4, it is written that when the first persecution against the church erupted, the apostles Peter and John returned to the church after being threatened to report back. 〇Postscript There is no doubt that the Lord Jesus Christ is the true Savior. The Lord Jesus is your Savior. Believe in and accept the Lord Jesus, and be saved. "Let him who thirsty come; and whoever wants the water of life receives it without charge." (Revelation 22:17) "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." (Psalm 119:105) Subscribe here: / @thru_the_bible #Bible #JesusChrist #BibleVerses #AudioBibleCommentary
