Balcony fire in Beckton, LB Newham, London, UK.

29/09/2020. This video shows the moments when the London Fire Brigade arrive and deal with a balcony fire in the Helm building, Royal Quay, E16, London. I was sat a my desk in my office and I could hear fire engine sirens nearby, so came out to investigate: a fire on the balcony was raging quite hard in a neighbouring building with flames up around the windows and what looked like the wooden decking on fire. Apparently the flat isn’t occupied, so the LFB probably had to break in to deal with it. You can hear the moment where they’ve probably had to break through the patio windows. Great work by LFB who dealt with this really well. Good also to see that the cladding didn’t go up, as that’s one of our biggest fears at the moment. Thankfully not being occupied probably means there was only wooden decking and not a lot else on the balcony. Copyright Sacha Ryder September 29th 2020.
