Forest fire extinguished in Roanoke County 1970

(WOODSFIRE) 6pm 27 Mar 70 tl It took about two-hours to put out a woods fire in Roanoke county this morning, and as much as 900 acres of forest may have been saved by the efforts. FILM, SILENT....Almost an hour was required for firemen to reach the scene of the blaze in the rugged area of the Old Hartman farm located East of U-S Route 220, south of Roanoke, near the Red Hill Baptist Church. The fire was started apparently by a high voltage line knocked down by a falling tree. State forestry service personnel joined volunteer firemen from the Clear-brook and Mount Pleasant Departments to contain the flames. (WOODSFIRE TWO) Firemen fighting this mornings blaze remembered the blaze that broke out in the same spot seven years ago and burned over 900 acres before it could be controlled.
