This feature can be useful for finding friends, family, or acquaintances already on the platform without needing to manually search for them by username. Once enabled, Instagram continuously uploads and syncs your contacts from your device to help improve friend recommendations and connections. To find and sync your contacts on Instagram, start by opening the Instagram app on your mobile device. From the home screen, tap your profile icon located at the bottom right corner to go to your profile page. Once you're on your profile, tap the three horizontal lines (menu icon) in the top right corner to access the app’s settings and features. In the menu that appears, use the search bar at the top and type in "Contacts." From the search results, select "Upload Contacts." This will take you to the Account Center or a direct settings page where you’ll see the option labeled "Connect Contacts." Toggle this option on to allow Instagram to access your phone's contacts and begin syncing them. Once contact syncing is enabled, Instagram will automatically upload your saved contacts and use that information to suggest users you might know under the "Discover People" section. It may also enhance account recommendations in your feed and when using the search feature. If at any point you wish to stop syncing contacts, you can return to the same "Upload Contacts" setting and turn the feature off.
