Capt Dan PCT 2015 VLOG #29- Days 49 and 50, from Walker Pass north

Got up early-early to catch the early bus out of Lake Isabella, 37 miles back to the trailhead with a bunch of other hikers. Met Ass Patch and Vicki and Turtle for the first time. Was real pleased to make the 2200 foot ascent out of Walker Pass without taking a break. At some point along the PCT, you get your "hiker legs" where your legs are strong and accustomed to daily hiking, so I guess you could say I've gotten mine by this point. Spent one night in a saddle. The winds were calm when I set up camp, but it blew like Hell during the night. I've now been hiking for 50 days on the PCT. When I departed Campo on Day 1, I had no clue how far I'd make it. So I was happy knowing I'd made it 50 days and was almost to Kennedy Meadows. On the second afternoon I ran into a thunder-snow shower. Made things interesting, fortunately it never got bad. Entering into this last valley, it felt like I was finally leaving southern California and entering into the Sierras. I camped just a few miles short of Kennedy Meadows.
