Testing GoPro for Exhaust Sound (Honda S2000)

I'm hopefully taking the S2000 to the race track in the near future. Trying to figure out how to correctly record a good exhaust sound. Some people on Reddit said to mount an external microphone underneath the car by the exhaust using an external microphone with a 10 foot cable connecting to the GoPro. That sounds like a pain in the ass, but with a little experimenting, I think I got an alternative solution.
