In this circumstance, I wanted to make a larger yeast count to pitch into a high gravity beer. A separatory flask may not work that well if you have a lot of trub (whole hops, fruit, etc.) so I suggest watching this video by brewbeeranddrinkit at: • How to Collect and Rinse Yeast It should be noted too that a good majority of people call this washing yeast but homebrewersassociation says otherwise :/ Maybe they're wrong maybe im wrong @_@ Although the process can be further refined to reduce airborne contamination using alcohol candles or blowtorch to create an upward draft, I did not have the resources when I made this video.
