loudlabs.com VICTORVILLE - An autistic man who went missing on Tuesday, May 1st was struck and killed in a Auto v Ped accident early Wednesday morning. According to the SBSO Press Release: "On May 1, 2018, Rudy Gonzalez, a 19-year old Autistic man from Victorville, was reported missing by his family. He was last seen by the family at approximately 1:00 p.m. near his home in the 15400 block of Ferndale Road. Another citizen reported seeing someone matching the description of Gonzalez at approximately 4:00 p.m. walking in the area. Deputies searched for Gonzalez throughout the afternoon and night, with assistance from Sheriff’s Aviation Division and K9 Unit. At 3:49 a.m., on May 2, 2018, Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call from the driver of a vehicle, who reported he had hit something while traveling on Air Expressway near Adelanto Road and believed it may have been a person. Deputies responded to the sc ene and confirmed a pedestrian had been struck. The pedestrian was confirmed to be Rudy Gonzalez. Gonzalez succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at a local hospital." The accident occurred in the 13100 block of Air Expressway Blvd near Emerald Road. Air Expressway, a major east west thoroughfare remained closed through the morning for the investigation. As of 11:15 AM, the road was still closed and drivers were being detoured through the desert on a dirt road.
