Hawaii Kayak Fishing | Double Strike! | Hobie Revolution 13

The winds were silent and the waters dead still as we caught live opelu for bait at dawn. By the time the sun was just peeking over the mountains, we had more than enough baits and headed out to start fishing deeper waters. I put my first bait out on wire at 6:30 AM in 140 feet of water, then slow trolled out over the drop off. After a couple hours with no strikes, I decided to switch my main rod to flurocarbon and I tied wire onto my backup rod and got a second bait out. The major bite time started at 8:00 AM, so I hoped the fish would start cooperating. Within minutes of setting the second bait out, both rods doubled over at the same time and drag sizzled from both reels. My first double strike! In the chaos that followed, I managed to land the shibi ahi (yellowfin tuna) on my main rod, but as I started boosting the second fish up, the hook pulled. All in all though it was a great day on the water with a couple new friends and looking forward to heading out that way again.
