Justice Surya Kant has officially taken oath as the 53rd Chief Justice of India (CJI) at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and several Union Ministers. This historic ceremony witnessed the presence of Chief Justices and judges from six countries, making it a first-of-its-kind moment in India’s judicial history. Justice Surya Kant has had a remarkable journey—from serving as the youngest Advocate General of Haryana to becoming the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court, and later serving on the Supreme Court bench.
